Default Sink Hole Insurance on a Resale

It looks to me that Citizens offers sinkhole insurance for resales, Has anyone purchased it?

Also I am being told that due to the 19 year old roof on the house I am purchasing there is only one company that will underwrite the policy and that the cost of the policy will be higher. Up north roofs usually last 25 years so I was surprised. The roof on the house looks good to me...hard to change it out with lots of life left in it?

Any advice or opinions?(must be some out there)

Citizens offers Sinkhole Loss coverage as an optional endorsement for Homeowners 3 - Special Form (CIT HO-3), Homeowners 8 - Modified Coverage Form (CIT HO-8) policies, and Dwelling Property 1 - Basic Form (CIT DP-1) and Dwelling Property 3 - Special Form (CIT DP-3) policies with Building coverage. Tenant contents, condominium and mobile home policies automatically include Sinkhole Loss coverage.

Sinkhole Loss coverage protects homeowners from structural damage to their home resulting from confirmed sinkhole activity. Sinkhole Loss coverage is different from Catastrophic Ground Cover Collapse coverage, which automatically is included in most Citizens policies. Catastrophic Ground Cover Collapse coverage applies only when geological activity results in all of the following conditions:

Do a search on roofs, and you will find they do not last as long in FL., it appears the sun has a lot to do with the shorter life.
If you have not settled on the deal, it might be a discussion item for a lower purchase price.....

Many purchasers of resale homes have a Building Inspection to find out the condition of the roof, furnace, air conditioner, etc.

By the way I learned something about roofs through TOTV the other day. If you have solar tubes installed, that invalidates the shingle warrantee as well as the warrantee on the underlying roof structure.
