I want to take pictures of the lizard looking creatures that are on my lanai screens. I have a 50x zoom lens.

The sun is at my back right now. I want everything beyond the creature out of focus.

So what should I set my ISO, depth of field and speed to. I could use automatic but I don't want to.

As an added idea----would anyone else be interested in posting the same subject photo? The winning photo will get nothing but a "head hi" at the next crisper meeting from the other competitors.

How's that for motivation?

I took this photo with my Iphone on my son's garage window. He lives in Boca Raton.

I played around with the photo in lightroom. I think I like it because it's disturbing. I think it's the angle of the screen. It does illicit an emotion. What do you think?

I recommend you use automatic Tom.

that was automatic
I can look up what the camera's computer selected but shooting in the sunlight i think makes it come out more black and white.

Good. Automatic always works best for me since I have no clue about the other stuff you mentioned.

ISO at lowest you have, aperture at lowest number(creates shallow depth of field)center or spot weight exposure(uses less of frame to set proper exposure) let camera determine shutter speed, try with a forced flash if you want more detail other than outline like you have.
