Straight party ticket voting is becoming alarming to me. I think most qualified voters understand it is not a good idea, yet it is becoming common. It is causing partisan infighting.

Why is it not a good idea? Most people vote for those with an ideology closest to theirs, and not the individual candidate.

I used to be dramatically and totally opposed to anyone voting straight party ticket, and still am the closer to local elections.

On the national stage, both parties have moved so far to the extreme that you really just need to decide the worst of two evils and vote straight.

....Exactly. The days of conservative Democrats are almost gone. There are very/very few of them left and they are beaten down by the rest of the democrat socialists. I vote straight party because most party members vote the same on the same issues. I am not going to listen to some Democrat lie to me and say he is conservative, just so he can get my vote. Even if the Republican is moderate or even left leaning, he is less likely to vote against his peers than a Democrat voting on conservative issues.

And if I vote for a Republican candidate, I vote for him/her on the conservative line, just to make a statement. I'm waiting for an election where the Democrats are also listed on the Socialist line, as they should be. Not all of them, but the extreme elements of their party are taking over. The extremists on the right aren't much better, but I find them tolerable because they stand for traditional American values, not the Eurotrash philosophy

If there is an equally qualified candidate fro each party I will vote my party.

I do not believe in voting for the party that is allegedly in agreement with my philosophy or desires.....because we all know the individuals may or MAY NOT.

Of course the party leaders want folks to pull the one party vote lever (I don't think that is doable anymore).

They are all qualified for the position. I suppose that you meant, you vote for the one that fits YOUR qualifications as what you want them to be.

Do you really think that a Democrat that says he is conservative will vote against his party in Congress? Better check the statistics, because about the only one that I know of that might, sometimes vote against his party is the senator from WV, Joe Manchin. And he is not 100% moderate.

I think that there are some really ignorant voters out there. Don't listen to what they say. Do some research as to their voting record. But, if they say they are liberal, I doubt they are conservative. If they are Democrat and say they are conservative, you could make some money betting on them lying.

How do you know who is qualified and who isn't? In Obama's case 51% of the electorate apparently felt that he was qualified to be President, but I suspect many of those who voted for him are second guessing their choice and his qualifications.

with the exception that they are ALL qualified. As an example, I give you Barrack Hussein Obama

I vote straight party, hoping to get a real conservative. Since they are rare, I just hope that I don't end up with a RINO. We have way too many liberal/socialists so there is no way I am going to chance electing one based on a politician's promise/lie. Nope, I will never vote for a Democrat.

Actually many are not. Obama being the most recent and the poster boy for not being qualified as continually demostrated by his incompetence.

No not "...my qualifications...".....the qualifications for the position to be filled.
