I have been thinking of some of the Eternal Members as well as some of those who have disappeared on TOTV.
I found this posted by Muncle in the Barbie thread and thought it might be of interest especially for those of you from the Show Me State of Missouri. https://www.talkofthevillages.com/fo...07-post12.html Anyone else have some old post that they would like to show in this Throwback Thursday thread? I have been on TOTV since July 2007 so do remember a lot of these fun posts from various regulars back then. |

I remember Muncle saying that his name resulted from a niece or nephew saying "my uncle" really quickly. Donna is another Eternal Member that I miss. I know Kathie I misses her also; they were best of friends.

Muncle was one of a kind. I thought he called himself Muncie like the town in Indiana but it was kind of a contraction of my uncle as he was single with only nieces and nephews. He was funny, witty, sarcastic and very well educated, a brilliant man...., and he posted a lot. It was a sad day when he told us that he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer and a sadder one when he left us. Rest in peace friend. You are not forgotten.

I still miss John Udvari (sp?) He was so kind and helpful. Gracie, what was his screen name? It's on the tip of my tongue. It had to do with computer skills and age.
I probably still have PMs from him on my notifications page. Virtual Geezer.

He was excellent with computers and could get any information he was after. I knew enough to not ask how. He came to visit The Villages every year for a month for several years and then he stayed for three months the last time he was here. He too had never married. He had two small houses in Akron that he couldn't sell and that is what held him back from realizing his dream of living here year around.. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer and many kind people in The Villages who loved him kept in contact with him and supported him in his illness . He was brave and cheerful always. Rest in peace John, we think of you and miss you.

There was another poster who wasn't on for very many years. He needed a liver transplant but died before he even got on the list. He was very funny and very smart and politically knowledgable. He had a cat, and after he died, kittygilchrist found a home for the cat. I think she even hosted the person who took the cat so she could get to know the cat.
I met him at Crisper's. I can't remember his screen name either. We tried to donate a bench in his memory, but couldn't get a spot in The Villages that would have been meaningful to him.

Oh C. Why can't we think of his name? He is alive in my memory. He too was beyond smart, he was brilliant and not only a quick wit, but a kind person. He bought a villa in St. James and was very involved with the singles group. Some of the TOTV people tried to get him in line for a liver transplant but failed to see it happen. He too, a bachelor, died alone and I think Kitty found him. He was a wonderful guy and not being able to think of his name hurts my heart. He was not older, and he loved his cat and had a very whimsical style to his décor and found many people who were his friends ; singles and doubles.. Kitty? What was his name?

He was interrupted in living his dream by a damned cancer. He was a great person, very smart and funny and very well informed. I can't remember if he and his wife lived here very long or not. Kathie I knew them better than I did.
He loved this place. And folks here just loved him. https://www.talkofthevillages.com/fo...vefromny-7603/
