Default Security Two Point door Lock system for Front Door

well folks there have been alot of talk about security against break-in's in the villages as we are preparing for the snow bird season.
The criminals know they are coming and they are preparing there crews to hit the village resident's as Sumter county police have warned us to keep an eye out.
I for one have increased my security to the front door with a TWO POINT DOOR LOCKING SYSTEM to the front door to increase security.
Most of the homes have Belleview kwikset single point (dead Bolt only) locking systems.
I choose to replace mine with a TWO POINT Kwikset Montara that has locking dead bolt and locking handset.
It covers the old Belleview lockset perfectly and i left the existing deadbolt in place and re-keyed the handset to my key type.
It was worth the 120.00 and for a additional 60 dollars i got the lever system 978.
here are the part numbers if anyone is interested.
These are for satin nickel;

Satin Nickel finish; Montara lockset with Juno Knob
Model #; 553mnhxj15 smt cp two point lockset

Handle Lido;
Model # 978 ll rh 15

No i have not.
I believe the steel strip will reinforce it but if you have a side Light (window) i think it will tear up the whole door frame and instead of taking out the center wooden frame.
If someone is that bent on getting in and overcomes my security system and cameras then nothing will stop them except a well placed firearm.
hope this helps

Dead bolts come with the steel strip with extra long screws. Builder probably took a short cut by not installing it. A dead bold is only partially effective without it.

Anyone who has a bump key can open your door locks. You can buy a bump key online for $3. Search Youbube to see how easy it is to open any lock with a bump key. There is no way to totally secure your house from break-in. I doubt they will try to kick the door in. More likely they will jimmy a window with a simple screwdriver.

Your best option is to install a wireless alarm like Simpli Safe or Piper. No contracts and if you want it monitored it is only $14.95 mo. It comes pre-set so all you do is stick the contacts on the door and place the motion sensors.

agreed but a smart key has no tumblers and is bump resistive.
No lock is perfect it only keeps honest people out.

Simpli safe is adding cameras to their system as well. With indoor / outdoor cameras, if they do come around it can be put online and we all will know who to look for and catch the thieves.
