Default Freecycling

Yesterday, a friend installed a new ceiling fan in one of my bedrooms. The old fan was perfectly good - just not my style anymore.

I put the old fan at the end of my driveway with a sign on it that said "Free Ceiling Fan" just after lunch. I looked out 35 minutes later - and the fan was GONE!!

I feel good that someone will use it and not having a perfectly good fan go to waste.

Isn't that good to read!

Last year our next door neighbor came walking over with one of the white fans that come with many of the homes that he had removed to put in a more stylish one.

He brought it for our front porch. He and Sweetie installed it and put in a switch in the garage. Made me feel good to use it and proud of both of them for knowing how to install it.

And it feels so nice on a hot night when we are sitting out there talking to neighbors.

I love this wonderful place. And I love that our generation know in our hearts to reuse, recycle, reclaim.

Here in NY, you wouldn't need the sign, and it would be gone in 10 minutes

My wife's brother in law originally a carpenter built up a business selling household items taken from older homes door knobs, mirrors ( antique specialty items) and grew such a business that he now does a booming business over e-bay. One of his steady client's was John Walsh (American's Most Wanted) .

We have also put several things out by the road with a free sign and had good luck with people taking them.

Did have a neighbor put his luggage all packed for his trip out by the road because he was expecting his taxi to pick him up any minute. In about 15 minutes the luggage was gone. Taken by a free cycler.
