Being sort of a moderate person and a card carrying carnivore, I don't oppose when wild animals get out of control having to eliminate them, such as the bears in Volusia County.

Yes they did live there and now people live there.

Very much love domestic pets and feel that our lives are better for them. But I do eat meat and feel my species is programmed to do that.

Mark me down as a hunter gatherer. (At Publix and Winn-Dixie)

Assuming a coyote does not get caught by an alligator are they at the top of the 4 legged food chain in The Villages?
Do they have any natural predators where we live?

I sure would not fit well in with the mountain or swamp men having to catch, kill, gut, skin, etc., their food. Give me Crsipers, Wal-Mart, Winn-Dixie and Publix any old day even if the same kind of stuff happens to the food there at some point in its journeys to the shelves.

If there is a bobcat and/or coyote in a separate neighborhood doing damage to local pets, then if it can be identified as the killer of these pets, I do think it should be killed in as humane way as possible. I would be against just eradicating the coyotes in the Villages.

These are called Gunthers. We meet once a month at the Slice and Dice Diner in Huntington. Each meeting starts out with a little ditty:

She's a Gunther.
I'm a Gunther.
Wouldn't you want to be a Gunther to?

Than we all share a pot of Hungarian Goulash made with imported goulashes.

What attracts coyotes to your neighborhood?
Coyotes are attracted to neighborhoods due to the
availability of garbage, pet food and even pets, which
coyotes see as prey. The following list illustrates some
of the attractants that draw coyotes close to people.
Remove these attractants to discourage coyotes from
visiting your property:
■ Outdoor pet food or water
■ Birdseed or food sources that attract small mammals
■Accessible garbage or compost
■ Fallen fruit or berries from trees or shrubs
■ Shrubs, woodpiles, decks or any other structure that can
provide cover or be used as a den

this was from kitty's link

Everything I've read says don't put your trash out the night before. People do that all the time down here yet bags are not being torn up like crazy like the raccoons would do where I lived. So either we don't have a problem now and may never have a problem or we will have a problem soon. What's easier than shredding a plastic bag with a cooked chicken carcass inside that must be very easy to smell for a cunning coyote?

I don't get it.

There has yet to be a coyote thread without attempted censorship.

Attempted suppression...You do not wish this thread were not here?
Maybe I misunderstood. Maybe you wish the coyote problem was not real?
Please clarify.
