Default FYI Atlas Dog Park dog loose today

Just an FYI... I love the new dog park.

And- one of the medium size dogs got out of the park by going under the fence. It took a while for the owners to catch him. Be aware, if it has not been fixed, the area behind the second bench (left side of the park) is open for escape or for a dog to get caught in the fence. I called Community Watch from the park and they said they would take care of notifying the right department to get the fence fixed.
Stay close and keep your eyes on your dog...

We stopped going as our medium sized dog was able to skim fence and jump right over it.

I like dogs---had several. I observe many "untrained" dogs in TV. I wonder why?

Was this on the small or large dog side?

Strange comment. I've seen just the opposite.....maybe it's just my neighborhood. I've never, ever seen an unleashed dog in TV. I've also never seen any bad behavior by any dog here.

Guess I'm just spoiled and around great retired folks that truly care about their animals.

Hey JoJo, I believe it to be on the larger side of the park. I have seen it and hope that it gets fixed sooner than later.

I always have an eye on my two when I see them head toward that bench.

Hope Community Watch gets to the right sources. I will try to let someone at Rohan know since the park comes under there responsibilities.

It was also off topic. The post was about a hole in the fence, not an untrained dog. Whenever a post starts out with "I love/have had dogs in the past," I cringe.

My Shih Tzu puppy is almost 10 months old. She has been to obedience school but she still gets so excited to see everyone! Lexi thinks everyone loves her! People in the know tells me she will settle down when she is around 2!

No guarantees! My Cocker Spaniel is almost 10 years old, has been to obedience school and still thinks that everybody loves her and absolutely must stop and pet her.

JerryLBell and GerryAnn: And, I was hoping she would be two soon! Lexi is pretty good if she has seen someone before. But, she is in her own little world outside!

Thanks! She is a cutie pie and has a great personality.

Now back to the fence at Atlas Dog Park! Mom, my aunt, Lexi and I are coming in December. I can't wait to see the new Dog Park and the bench Mom and I adopted in memory of my Dad, brother and sister-in-law.

Default Just because a dog is leashed doesn't mean...

it's trained(owners need training too). A trained dog walks at heel, sits when stopped and comes the first time when called. A trained dog and owner do not let the dog go on private property(i.e.: someones home lot), but stays to the walks or common areas....not the golf course or any part of it. A trained dog does not bark at everything.

Yes it is easy to train a dog to do or not do all of these things and more, but you have to train the owner too. Takes about 10 weeks...not much time considering how long you'll own the dog and they'll both be happier for the experience.
