Default Has Anyone Changed Their Mind Yet?

Wow! Much of the stuff posted in this forum is really nasty. Back and forth, yadda-yadda...with seldom a mention of the real issues facing the country. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised--the campaign committees and loyalists of both candidates seem to be doing the same thing in their expensive ad campaigns.

If one were to read all the stuff posted here, on other political blogs, in the candidate's ads, etc., it would be easy to conclude that our choice is between...
An inexperienced, Marxist, Muslim member of the eastern establishment elite who surrounds himself with criminal, militantly religious, violently radical leftist associates and has accomplished nothing of any purpose in his life.
or...
An aging four-time cancer survivor who is manipulated and financed by the social and religious conservatives, whose campaign platform and every publicly-spoken word is being scripted by a group of powerful lobbyists who represent a variety of special interests, and whose ability to complete even one four-year term in office is in question.
If one were to listen and read the invectives being put forth regarding these candidates, that seems to be our choice.

Maybe now that General David Petraeus is back in the U.S., maybe he could organize a military coups and take over as the benevolent dictator of our republic. If one were to believe all that is being said and written, that might appear to be a pretty attractive choice.

Actually you have done a pretty good job in capsulizing the candidates

To directly answer the question you pose in your headline for this thread, one thing has crystalized in mind, not so much as a result of this particular board but in conjunction with others and discussion of politics in person...that is...

My zest for politics will be much more directed to the congressional elections and I hope that maybe there will be some lively discussions on those elections. Each party is giving us very poor candidates every 4 years and realistically we gotta pick one. I would love to see people get much more involved in those we send to populate the senate and house and maybe that way we can get some good government.

Great post Big Kahuna. You are correct. Is this the best that the DNC and RNC has to offer the voters to lead this country for the next four years? I expect my next President to lead by example and so far I don’t see either candidate meeting this expectation. Both parties, and also for the most part the TOTV political forum, are guilty of ignoring the issues and doing the best to trash each other’s candidate and in the case of TOTV political forum to trash each other. I have noticed the attitude on this forum is not the issues, but my candidate is better than your candidate. In a few weeks we will know who will lead our country for the next four years and IMHO neither one of them will have an easy time of it. The problems of this country can only be fixed when Congress does something to correct the many problems they have either created or flat ignored and to act in a way that we the voters expect of them. We demand to be represented and I hope the outcome in the congressional elections will impress on Congress that we are mad as hell about the direction this country is in and if they aren’t doing the job we will elect someone who will.

WRITE IT ON THE CALENDAR AS IT DOESN'T HAPPEN OFTEN.....

Bucco...I whole heartedly agree with you!! I probably won't agree with who you want to go send to the senate and house... ...but for now in this very moment...I am with you 100%.
