Default How do you erase a post?

I just managed to put a picture of my remodeled bath on the decorating thread, when I thought I was posting a picture of a chandelier in my home. When you post from photobucket, it has the numbers etc, but not the picture come up until you actually post. THEN I couldn't delete the post. I managed to erase the second picture ...........but how do you delete a post??

AND HOW do you get the next picture you want to appear in your post? I have gone back to photobucket a jillion times and deleted everything but the chandelier, and I go through the whole process and the bathroom just keeps appearing.

Also, sometimes I can't see the little icon for spell check. I don't know whether my computer is playing tricks or the new program is not showing the width of the page. Help!

I am not going to have any friends when I get to TV, because they all will have discovered what a dingbat I am.

I believe you can go into "Edit" and wipe the post clean and "save"

That doesn't work

Good Question!

I posted the same question a few days ago and never received a response. Has the delete option been deleted?

Good morning GG,

I think at one time you could delete a post unless it was the one that started the thread. But I think that changed, too, a while back. I sort of understand why if it's a post starter especially. But that does not make it any less frustrating. (Maybe it will make me think twice about some things, huh.)

Twice I have written the most idiotic posts as thread starters and then realized what I had done. One was about solar lights a long time ago, a really dumb question that one was.

The other one had to to with Search directions I was giving which somehow my post managed to change because of the keyword or something. So I went back in through Edit, deleted the original words, and wrote more idiotic stuff that included convoluted explanations about why and how the original idiotic stuff I had written made no sense. The explanation made even less sense than my original post. It was all a great deal of trouble and I am certain that nobody cared except me. (That one was "The Bank Job" which was about a movie. That one was right before the software change and I could not get rid of it so we just turned it into a Seinfeld episode.)

So anyway, GG, you are not the Lone Ranger in this stuff so please do not feel bad, not even for a minute. And Photobucket gives me fits, too.

And I still have not figured out spellcheck and I know that I have probably begun to appear quite illiterate in places, even though I proofread. And even though I have never depended on the kindness of spellcheck, totally, I do miss it. I keep forgetting to ask Mr. Boomer to help me download it. I clicked like it told me to, but it did not cooperate, so I have just been ignoring its existence lately. (is that supposed to be 'ance'?)

And I also have not seen that "censored" thing that used to save me from myself on a regular basis. I was in the habit of just clicking on it when I wanted to be especially expressive.

So anyway, I hope we get to see your light. It sounds great.

And don't worry about the rest of it. We will get it eventually. It just is not my nature to spend much time trying to learn computer stuff. At work, I could always call someone who would come to my desk and point and then I was fine. I need someone to come to my desk here in the kitchen and point. I am a simple woman.

Oh, and you know what else happened to me? I wrote a big long diatribe on something near and dear to my heart in response to a slam of my near and dear to my heart thing that appeared here. Oh, I was sooooo eloquent. My points were all supported perfectly. I am sure the readers' eyes would have welled with tears. And I just know that any reader who needed to face errors in thinking would most certainly have done so after reading my passionate piece.

And at the end of all of it, I proudly hit "Send" with the most noble of all my fingers. And, and, and ----- this (CENSORED) thing had timed me out. It said I was not logged in. It was probably just as well. It was indeed a piece of work. I would have been in trouble.

So anyway, GG, the point of all this is, yeah, I know.

Boomer

I've tried to delete, so far haven't found the magic button. However you can hit the "edit" button and wipe out the body of your post.

Default Editing and Deleting your Posts

[Excerpted from FAQ's. Bottom line seems to be that possibly the administrators may have turned off the option to delete ]

"Editing and Deleting your Posts
Can I edit or delete my posts?

If you have registered and are logged in, you may be able to edit and delete your posts (although the administrator may have turned off this option). Your ability to edit your posts may be time-limited, depending on how the administrator has set up the forum.

To edit or delete your posts, click the Edit button by the particular post. If your post was the first in the thread, then deleting it may remove the entire thread.

Once you've made your modifications, a note may appear to inform other users that you have edited your post.

If the edit time and date appear as a link you can click on this to see the differences between the original and edited versions, or between edits if there have been multiple edits.

Can others edit my posts?

Administrators and moderators may also edit your messages. If they do, there may not be a note telling other users that the post was modified."

Not being able to delete is still another new "feature" in the new software.

I'm more than careful now about what I say LOLOL,
I used to delete pretty regularly.

Default Deleting post....

If you feel that you really really MUST delete a post....

1. Click on "Edit"

2. Highlight and click on "Delete"

3. press the "period" key a few times to leave something in the post so it will allow you to....

4. Click "Save."

This doesn't delete the thread shell but will save you the embarrassment or reason to delete what you typed.

It leaves an empty thread and, possibly, if this is done enough times, the administrators will delete these "blanks" and revise the software accordingly.
