I am sure I will get some name calling or even worse on this thread, but so ofen, even on this board, if you say or even hint at certain topics you are called a racist. It happened during the Democratic primary with Sen Clinton's campaign being called racist often.

Should this not apply to all sides ?

To me, the link below is just flat out inserting race into the campaign

Alcee Hastings was impeached for bribery and perjury, when he was a judge. He wasn't sent to jail because his co-conspirator refused to testify. The co-conspirator went to jail and was pardoned by Bill Clinton. Everytime I see Hastings on TV it makes me sick.

In my humble opinion the race card was pulled early and often in the Democratic primaries. That is one of reasons I am not a supporter of Obama.

What the liberal blogs and reports did to Geri Ferraro was way over the top.

I look at it a little different. Do you think if Michelle Obama had brought one of her daughters up on the stage that was 7 months pregnant, she would have been received the same way as Sara's daughter? I don't think so.

Unless I missed something, Sarah Palin's daughter being pregnant led to Sarah and family being dragged over the coals. IMHO, if it was Mr. Obama's daughter, (he is the candidate), it would have all been handled much more delicately lest any racial discrimination be detected. I believe Sarah Palin was attacked for being the mother with the pregnant daughter and it wouldn't have been an issue for the father of a pregnant daughter. In any event, to me it is a moot point. The children of candidates are not fair game and as Dr. Phil said on the Jay Leno show, they are not the public officials running for office and should be left out of the conversation. Period.

I agree children should not be in the political arena - this post is about racism and my point was perception. The Orlando Sentinel has a poll and it shows people over 60 are the most likely to not vote for Obama because of racism. (todays paper if you want to view it online.) My point is bias plays a role in the reasoning for some people not voting for Obama as much as some people would like to deny it.

Conn, I do agree that racism is alive and well, unfortunately, and particularly in the over 60 age group. I do NOT feel it is rampant though and honestly believe most people are hearing the candidates policies and are way past the race issue. IMHO, there is a much larger groundswell against a female president or vice president at this time.
