Default Virus in Dogs???

I took my little chihuahua to the vet this morning as she has been sucking on her right leg. Turns out she has some sort of virus....got two shots, meds to start tomorrow and special shampoo. Was told to feed her food with no grains.

Anybody else having puppy virus problems?

Food with no grains... sounds like a potential food allergy too, maybe? I hope she gets well soon!

Could also be a sensitivity to whatever is being sprayed on the grass. Have that problem with my dog, I wash off her paws after a walk and that does help.

Which vet did you see?? We have a golden. Our had what appeared as an allergic reaction to something. Licked her paws also. Gave her some pills and also a grain and red meat diet.

We eliminated grains from the food a year ago and that really helped. The vets also have the standby response "well it only takes one flea" to keep the scratching going.

It seems the no grain food is helping. I use the 441 Animal Clinic in Leesburg.

Thanks for all your helpfulness.

Paw licking can also be triggered by mites, usually dust kind.
