Default The Micro Brewery

Does anyone know why we are loosing the micro brewery located in the Bourbon Street restaurant? I know that they have not been in production for some time now, but cannot get an explanation as to why.
This has been in big disappointment to many people and the loss of a major selling/talking point for TV
Back in the old days when it was Augustines (Auggies), the brewery was in full swing, producing great award winning ales which were sold in Auggies, Katie Belle's, Cafe Ole (Margaritaville) and McCall's, not forgetting the beer wagon on festival nights.
BBOB. Bring Back Our Brewery and Octoberfest & Spanish Springs Light etc.
We're tired of Bud/Bud lite/Miller/Miller lite/Coors/Coors lite.
Now that these brands are to be owned by Belgium, can't we have some genuine USA owned and produced quality beers?

Angry Micro ale

NO QUESTION THE BREWERY WOULD BE SUCCESSFUL IN TV BUT THEY KEEP TRYING TO OPEN QUESTIONABLE REGULAR RESTAURANTS.

Default Spanish springs Brewery

As you may or may not know the cost to run Spanish Springs Brewery ran
well above $120,000 per year.
Brewmeister= $3,200.00 mth(Yea, go figure!)
Rent/utilities= $3,400.00 mth(This is not industrial rental property)
Raw ingredients 3,000.00 to $5,000.00 mth(Depending on light or lager and how often a fresh batch was made, also Hops and Barley farmers are now finding higher profits in growing Flex Fuel raw product making it VERY expensive to find raw product for beer.)
The Villages SOMETIMES made a small profit selling it out of 4 different venues with very little competition due to the lack of franchises(@#$&* Franchises,Bad word and bad for YOUR health). Spanish springs was an incredible marketing tool for the Villages and usually lost money and was subsidized by The Villages deep pockets.
Selling it out of ONE venue in today's market is a losing proposition.
We have the next best thing. Swamp head Brewery in Gainesville bought it, lock stock and barrel and will make the original recipes sell the beer back to us exclusive in The villages but market it around the country. The name will continue to grow helping them, us and The Villages. First batch of Spanish springs Light due by March!!!!!

I see someone answered regarding The Swamp Brewery - hopefully will soon be available by tap back in the Villages. I agree with the post about how expensive it is to run a microbrewery. Florida in general has substandard microbrews available (perhaps because of distribution issues on a peninsula)?

Anyway, I foresee a microbrewery club in The Villages future. Unfortunately, we won't be there on a full-time basis for another 4 years or so, but I would like to add that we have found 1 venue that at least offers good bottled microbrews - Garvino's in Lake Sumter Landing.

Would really be nice, though, if some of the restaurants and country clubs would at least carry a microbrew or two on tap - maybe it will happen in a few months when The Swamp brewery is up and running (and distributing). Meanwhile, every time we come down from Ohio, we bring our own supply of Great Lakes Brewery products.

Do you use a Pod to ship the brew in?
