Default Daily Sun - No more Newcomers Lists

A neighbor had pointed out to me that he hadn't seen the Newcomers/Home Purchase list in the Rec News for a month or two. It usually comes out towards the end of the month. Having not seen it for October, I called the Sun and was patched through to voice mail for that person....she left me a message later on that "the operations department decided to quit publishing it"....no further info.

I looked forward to that feature every month....scanned the names and hometowns looking for people from 'back home' and how much activity in both new and resale communities.

Anyway, just wanted to let y'all know...you could always call or write the Sun and request it be reinstated, but, often these decisions are the final word.

I noticed the same thing and just spoke to my husband about it last week. My guess was that sales have fallen off and they don't want us counting how many people purchased in the last month. This is a guess only..they may have some other compelling reason (privacy?) for not publishing newcomer names. I always total sales from those lists in an effort to track the market.

Default It is a function of growth (sometimes).....

organizations can't do some of the quaint things they did when they were smaller. Just as TV has lost some of it's quaintness as it continues to grow and sprawl. That does not have to be the reason but it is usually the one of convenience.
As the hustle and bustle increases folks (think) they have less time and can't be as friendly......if we are not careful we could wind up acting like the folks in the big cities....too much of a hurry to be concerned with the smelling of the roses and their fellow man...how sad!
Let's not let it happen here...

That's a shame. I found 2 people I knew from those lists. But more importantly I think Sam might be onto something. Maybe they have had an unusually bad couple of months and don't want the numbers published. The building going on at Lake Sumter might be a response to the slow down in housing. It is my understanding those houses will be used for lifestyle visits and rentals. A semi-switch over to the vacation market, promoting TV as a vacation destination. And that brings up another whole controversy.

Called the Customer Service Center and was told the newcomers list is only published on the first Thursday of the month in the Recreation news. We should look for it next week.

So...what's the truth?

07 was told: "the operations department decided to quit publishing it."

BogieShooter was told: "the newcomers list is only published on the first Thursday of the month in the Recreation news. We should look for it next week."

I'm confused!

Default property transfers list

It seems the Sumter Couty Times has quit posting property transfers too. Used to be there every week.

I tried searching the clerk of courts for the info. but to no avail. It is public record, so maybe Tal can find it.

If you can wait until next Thursday, your confusion should go away.

Bogie,

I hope you're right...we shall see next week.

You called the general Villages Customer Service center??? I called the Sun directly. My guess is that the Sun contact would have the latest info, but, again...we shall see.

It's also possible they've stopped the listing because they are trying to save money. Maybe they have cut staff (or not backfilled vacancies) and with that, some functions must also be cut.

Perhaps it's a privacy issue.

Default transfers

I went to the newsletter site to see Sept. list of purchases. Where in the newsletter do you find them? I am doing it online as I am not there yet.
Thanks

CJ....my understanding, from what my neighbor observed...is that the list was not published in Sept or Oct.
