Default Best Free Phone App

I can't recall who told me about this free app, but it is the greatest!

If getting "robo" phone calls has aggravated you--and they surely will going into the political season--try this app to completely stop them. Go to the following website <www.nomorobo.com>

The site will explain how the service works and you then activate the app by entering the phone number you wish to have protected.

The way it works is during the first ring the app compares the calling number to their gigantic file of known robotic phone callers. Their file of known robo caller numbers is constantly being updated.

Then before the first ring is completed, if it's a robo call it will be switched to one of the "dead" phone numbers that belong to the service. If the call is not flagged as a robotic caller your phone will continue to ring normally and you can answer it. All you need do is don't pick up calls during the first ring. If it's a robo call, your phone will simply stop ringing.

The app won't block calls from your doctors reminding of appointments, or drug stores advising of Rx pickups.

Until I signed up for NoMoRobo I didn't realize how many such calls we received. It must be 5-6 a day that are now blocked by the service.

There are few really desirable things that are free, but this is one of them. Visit the website, read up on how it works, and if you like it sign up and give it a try.

We are with AT&T. I think I will give it a try. We have been fortunate so far, and do not receive many robo calls on our cell phones, but the number has increased. Thanks for the tip!!

Here is what is stated on nomorobo.com:

"Unfortunately, Nomorobo is not available on traditional analog landlines or wireless phones at this time."

That makes its use pretty limited.

I have not come across a workable block number system nor has the" do not call"registration system been even remotely effective.

Like many people we are inundated with phone calls we do not want. We feel like prisoners in our own home. Our only saving grace is caller ID we have with Comcast (phone and television) If we do not recognize the number we will not answer, believing if it is important the caller will leave a message.

I use nomorobo on my comcast landline...it works great at blocking junk calls. I just wish my phone system had the "mute first ring" feature that some do so I wouldn't even hear the first ring.

I have set my ringer off and let the answering system take the calls. All I hear is my voice messages and then the caller or hang ups

I have set it up for my landline number.

Does this system keep a list of the calls it stopped so we can check to see if a real call might have been stopped?

Z...numbers do not appear on my phone caller ID. I have Comcast...they do appear on my TV if I am watching. Or, use the xfinity connect app on apple or android device and you came see all incoming calls, even those blocked by nomorobo. Not sure if xfinity website shows all incoming numbers.

If I got 5-6 robo calls a day I would change my phone # but that app sounds like a savor for you and some others.

If you use Comcast for a home phone they do have a free feature that helps.
Open your email in Comcast and click on Preferences, then click on Voice. Select Edit on Call Blocking and then check the box for Block all Anonymous Calls.

Between this Comcast feature and activating Nomorobo on our home phone we have seen a very good reduction in those annoying calls.
