Default Today's media fear number...6.5%...

yes unemployment has "leaped to an all time high of 6.5%..." OK market dive! Dive!

If the media was pedaling anything other than fear they could help () by hyping the 93.5% that are still employed......

It is the constant daily hysteria/fear inducing tone that is driving this country to new lows. It is no different than when one is ill, the worse you feel the worse you feel.

93.5% still gainfully employed....under normal circumstances there is always 3-4& that will always be unemployable....even during boom times...so we are up 2-3% above that. Still comes out 93.5% still gainfully employed. If you are one of the 6.5% it is significant.
Statistically speaking.....93.5% is the significant number.....6.5% is NOT!!!

In medicine, if I tell a patient that a particular side effect only affects 1 in a hundred ... 1%... most say, "that's fine unless I'm the one in a hundred.
