Default New Year's Eve

I have been away from TV for several weeks and didn't have access to the Daily Sun. Will the entertainment at both squares on New Year's Eve end at 9 p.m. as it did last year? Thank you.

Default Why??????

Why oh why, would you ever go to the squares on New Year's Eve? Dull city, no excitement and parties all over the Villages where they won't roll up the sidewalks at 9:01PM.
If it's your cup of tea/bourbon/scotch, whatever, have fun. I can be dulled out almost any other night there but not on the one night when you can let your hair down (if you have any, unlike me) and have some real fun.

Neat bumper sticker. Went like this: "It's God's job to judge terrorists. Our job is to arrange the meeting!"

Be a gentleman, remove your hat/cap when entering a building and dining out!

Default prior to last years cop out by the litigation sensative

administrators, New Years at both squares came to be a very fun filled celebration.
If you never attended a New Years on the square one really cannot comment accurately....opinion yes....accurate NOT.
The reasons given by The Villages were weak, unfounded and very, very unpopular.
It WAS good family, friends and neighbors FUN!!!!!!
Some of us miss it....another amenity bites the dust!!!

I've never attended a New Year's Eve at a Town Square, but it sounds like fun (if it goes past midnight). Last year was such a fiasco. It will be interesting to see what Villages Management is planning for this year.

Please post it here if you happen to see the announcement in The Daily Fun.

We have guests coming in... Katie Belles is too expensive and they have teens anyway... where else would be a good place to go? I thought the entertainment went till midnight? Do they keep the cabana bars open?

We haven't heard yet what the Villages Management is planning for the Town Squares. Last year they sold tickets and then gave the money back, and then decided to shut down at 9 PM.

This year we're hoping for something more exciting.

We went to the Square every year but last, of course. We had dinner out, got there about 10:30 p.m. and stayed until the music ended at 12:30. Had our granddaughter one year, so a Rec. Ctr. or house party wouldn't have worked out anyway. I agree with you, billethkid. We LOVED it, SABRMnLgs. Sounds like you just don't like crowds.

Default New Year's Eve

Why did they build the town squares if you can't go there on New Year's Eve & have a good time!!! What else is there to do, Katie Belles is very expensive. We live in the village of sanibel, & would love to go to brown wood for New Year's Eve!!!

First, I'm not sure why you would even comment on a post that is five years old but each to his/her own desires.
Second, you most certainly can go to any of our three town squares on New Years Even, listen to music, dance, partake of adult beverages, etc. You just can't do all that after 9 PM. I suspect your real questions was "Why won't The Villages throw me a FREE New Years Eve Party?".

the squares shut down at 9 pm, none stay open any longer than that, even on new years eve. seems like a shame that there is nothing out there to ring in the new year. we usually have chinese food, go to a movie, come home and watch the ball drop, have a glass of bubbly, and are asleep by 12 30.
