We are snowbirds. Bought a place last March. I would like to play some golf but need some help getting started.. I am a moderate hacker lol, any where from 42-54 for 9 holes regulation course. Anyway neighbors and most of the people we have met so far are not golfers so I need to know how to get involved with some golfers. Do the starters/pro shops set you up with a foursome or what. Also need to find out about getting a starting time, of course I need some players too. Sure would like to start playing 3 or 4 times a week on the executive courses and mayby once a week at a CC.

Just call for a tee time and the starter will put you with three other people. The executive courses are very easy.

I have only played a few of them. The one thing that surprised me is that people played quickly although many were beginners.

I wish I could be more help but the best I can recommend is join www.thevillages.net and learn how to schedule t-times over the computer. There is a "men's league" every Tue. I typically play the executive league and sign up on the computer. I still work and take Tue's off to play in that league which is lotsa fun. Once you figure it out itsa piece of cake. You'll meet a lot of golfers.

As rs said, I also recommend you get a villages.net ID and then you can go on the computer and book all the tee times you want and the system will pair you up with 3 other players to round out the foursome. I also agree that the Tuesday mens day is a great way to meet new friends.....GN

WHOA.....

First of all , the executive courses are not easy ,,,,There are about six that are easy but others that are extremely difficult ......Most of the courses are definitely not par "3" and are not called par "3"s for a reason.....They are fun and challenging but are not easy....
Call the Rec. office and sign up for the golf info class and you'll learn how to make tee times and how to sign up even though your a single.....Believe me , you won't be a single long....
This is a fun place to live and if you play golf , its even funner......

I think Gracie menat that it was easy to get out on the execs as a single if you call.

Opus - From my limited experience on the CC courses, if you can shoot around 50 you'll fit right in. Enjoy!

I am not on my game but Sweetie is. He never complains, but he is used to more challenge than Truman, Roosevelt, Bogart and ???. that I have played. I am glad to hear that the other nine holes courses are a bit more challenging. They fit my game just fine right now.

He has played so little golf, we keep getting sidetracked with projects and he is still working. I hope that is remedied soon. He liked Cane Garden better than Palmer.
