This is so annoying and has happened to me several times. Someone posts something on TOTV Classifieds for sale and does not leave a phone number to call them. You have to send them a message........but often they don't even reply. Today I sent a message in the afternoon (with my phone #) about a buffet and mirror and never heard back from the OP. I assume they sold it or would have called me.
Posters, when you put an item on for sale in Classifieds, if it sells....please give the people that message you a reply. It is just the courteous thing to do instead of leaving them hanging. Actually, if you would post your phone # you would probably sell it within minutes and we wouldn't have to message each other at all. Thank you.

I think Lucky tried that to no avail. I know I've had the same problem contacting sellers. I never understand why you got no response from someone selling an item.

Having posted items for sale, TV removes your phone number. it is just as annoying. This is why you see items with part of the number spelled out. I never figured it out

The underlying cause of folks forgetting to return a PM is...get ready for it....OLD AGE....you should now be wondering hmmmmm...why didn't I think of this.
As for leaving phone #'s...not a great idea as anyone who sees it can then make annoyance calls. As for calling everyone to let them know it's sold....well it's old age again. Get used to it and get over the annoyance as no one is getting any younger. It is a lot more annoying for those who just don't remember any more....it isn't always about YOU. |

No way in the world I would post my phone number on this message board. I also can't sit in front of a computer all day waiting for messages. Easier to list on craigslist.

Also, once an items sells, the seller should remove it from the classified section, that way, everyone who had an interest in it will know its been sold. |

I can't figure out how to PM someone who has something for sale. I don't think it is possible. At least 5 times in the last 3 weeks I have sent messages to the seller with no response. I agree posting a phone number isn't a great idea but putting in an email address would work and it's the way I do it and it works. If you don't want to use your regular email you can easily create a gmail account for this purpose.

No need to leave a phone number or wait by the computer all day. Simply enclose your email address...done.

a friend of mine posted a carpet for sale, but realized the email used in her CP wasn't the one she used here in TheVillages, but she couldn't get the email changed and she contacted the administrator, but still no response to it.
I agree, if you aren't in the habit of checking your inbox then you should use a phone number.

The thing some people forget about is common courtesy. It only takes a minute to either email or call a person back that has inquired about your item for sale.........even if it has already been sold. I always do this. As we learned as small children..........treat others the way you wish to be treated in all walks of life.

Fred is it possible they don’t return calls because they simply don’t care? We live in an “it’s all about me” world. That attitude crosses all generations, 3-93. Respect and civility are slowly but surely dying.
