Default Lanai Enclosures

Re: Lanai

If you want screens part of the year and glass part of the year, is it an easy swap out? Is it DIY or is there a company? What about storage of the screens/glass?

Wishing everyone a Blessed Easter.

Why not just do a glass enclosure that slide open and have permanent screens outside of them. Check with Custom Windows.

We have an acrylic enclosure. We open the windows all the time for a nice breeze. Because we can close out bad weather, we are able to have furniture on the porch.

We went with acrylic, because of the weight. We had an indoor pool in NC & the windows were to heavy to remove, for cleaning.

We used CVS-professional--no problems-

Hello NC,
Where are you from in NC. We live in Cashiers and consider building in the new section of Pine Hills. Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated

We lived in Fairfield Harbour--a real "hell hole", then we moved to Cary--"paradise", moved to Palm Coast-"another mistake", finally the villages - "Paradise for 6 months, spicy for the other 6 months"

Word to the wise -never move into a community run by a POA/HOA or condo commandoes

acrylic will yellow with age, particularly if they are kept under a full spectrum light or are exposed to direct sunlight (like in Florida).
This is a normal chemical reaction in the materials that the acrylic is made from.

Also it is not an approved product if the lanai was heated or A/C'd in the future.

You would need to replace all of it.

Has zero insulting factors, it is selected for price not function

Try lifting stacked windows-we like the stacked design vs sliders-this way we get 2 level ventilation

Call custom Windows. We have our lanai enclosed with sliders and love the versatility. Like adding a room to your house without the taxes. We put our tv out there and never use the living room anymore.

So, if you expand the lanai taxes go up?

No. At least not in Florida.
