Has anyone traveled to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic? Considering visiting there independently and would appreciate any information? Thanks.

I have not been specifically to Punta Cana, but this link may be helpful:

The information has been recently updated.

A good friend of mine who has traveled all over the world for business and vacations said Punta Cana is beautiful and very affordable. He said it is in his top five favorite spots. Good Luck.

I have been there and to many islands throughout the Caribbean. It depends on what your expectation are. Most of the places are all inclusive resorts. Some people love them and some people hate them. You most likely will enter the resort and not leave until your departure, because you will not feel safe outside of the resort and there is not anything you will want to see. You will most likely make this decision on your ride from the airport to the resort. The resorts are safe and the beaches along resort row are safe. The resort I stayed at was first class, but in the end, I have been there and don't need to go back. There are a lot of destinations much better, but just my opinion.

I concur with your observation, BillAlexander. Haven't been to Puerto Cana, but did visit Luperon and Samana independently by sailboat and really liked them. The D.R. i beautiful.

Punta Cana is beautiful and affordable. Book our trip through vacationstogo.com. Mostly all inclusive resorts. Not much to do if you don't scuba, snorkel etc.. A very relaxing vacation. Sit by the pool and read type vacation.

My husband and I loved Punta Cana. Very affordable. We didn't venture out at all, but there was plenty to do at the resort. We did a lot of nothing, which was nice. We stayed at the Excellence, Adults Only, All-Inclusive Resort. This was back in 2007. Our friends have stayed at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach Adults Only Resort, and they enjoyed their time, as well! Good luck.
