Default How is garbage/recycling picked up?

This may have been answered elsewhere but my search-fu has failed me on this one. My wife and I have been through The Villages several times and now own a house there (though we're renting out until we move there next year) and have never actually seen any garbage or recycling containers out to the curb ready for pick up. We also have never noticed where people keep their garbage or recycling containers.

Can anyone tell us how garbage and recycling is handled in The Villages? Our house is in the south end, if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance for any helpful replies!

There aren't any containers. On your scheduled days, you put trash and recyclables at the curb in bags. The recyclables go in clear bags.

Recycling are place in clear plastic bags or bundled on certain certain days of the week. In my villa its on Mondays with normal trash which in bags in any trash bag except clear. I separate it from regular trash so the trash men don't have to sort through it. Yard waste is collected on different day in my case on Wednesday which either has to be bagged in Yard waste bag or bundled (tied) up. No trash containers are used and you can only place trash out the night before at the earliest.

For what its worth, I think I read that 5PM the night before is the earliest you are allowed to put it out.

We picked out the house, went home to NC, bought it remotely and rented it remotely. The property management people clued them in on things like mail, garbage, yard watering, etc. but never shared any of that with us. We've been trying to get little details like this when they occur to us so that we're better prepared when we move in.

Thanks all for the replies!
