Default A/C concerns

I have notice that sometimes in the evenings our A/C continues to run and lowers the temperature 2-5 degrees below our desired setting of 76. I have a Trane model and online it mentions cooling droop. My Trane thermostat has a user setting of 0/1/2. I have changed the factory setting of 1 to 0 to see if this alleviates the problem.

Has anyone noticed this on their units? I may just need a new thermostat.

First, not familiar with the Trane thermostat, but do you have a dehumidify setting? Does this occur after having the windows open? If so, the A/C may be running extra time to lower the humidity. No other ideas.

If the thermostat is equipped with a humidistat, the AC will run until the humidity is lowered. This will result in a lower temperature.

The other factor to analyze is the location of the thermostat.
Many are located just inside a hall or very near an entry door.

The area of the thermostat will affect howw long the unit runs. Showing a variance to setting.

Also some themostats have a variable set point that will operate for example within a 2 degree swing. Maybe that is what you are referring to setting to zero.

Call Munn's to have a tech look at it. Any advice on here is most likely wrong. We're not talking about lanai's here !

We have a Carrier system that monitors humidity and will run to lower the humidity. This results in exactly what you describe. System running when you don't expect it is needed and lowers the temp a few degrees below the thermostat setting. Check your manual to see if you have a humidity sensor and program to run the system. Or check with the installer.
