Default Car On Cart Path

I was playing Turtle Mound course this morning and was astonished to see a blue Smart Car driving on the cart path going south toward the 466a tunnel. Didn't have time to get a photo with my phone ..,

I believe it! I've seen it myself, several times, and not just golf-cart sized cars. I've also seen folks going the wrong way on the roundabouts, people stopping in the middle of the roundabouts to let people in, and people blowing through the "yield" signs to cut people off in the roundabouts. Nothing surprises me any more.

I've also seen a few cars on the golf cart paths.
One driver was backing up his car, which caused confusion to the golf carts following him.
My husband was driving in the correct direction around a roundabout.
He encountered a wrong-way driver who actually shook her fist at him. It takes all kinds.

Was the path heading north? Seasonal visitors heading home, maybe? As for rotaries, those English have no excuse. (I've seen them also)

Been there myself! Heading on golf cart path by the Charlotte gate, we were flagged down that there was a car on the path. Thank god he warned us as we were headed around a tight corner and might not have seen it. It had turned around and was heading back to the gate...Not even sure how it made that tight turn onto the cart path and no idea what he did once he was back to the road.

This is a few years back but the attached photo is of a PT Cruiser half way up the cart bridge that crosses 27/441 in Spanish Springs.

Are you sure it was a smart car and not one of those new enclosed electric carts? A lot of them are blue and could be mistaken for a smart car at a quick glance?

I plead guilty to getting at least the first two wheels of my Miata on a golf cart path. Yes, I was seriously embarrassed. My favorite driving story to tell on myself is driving on Pinellas towards Morse in my friend's SUV. I drove in the multi-modal path from Anna Maria almost to Charlotte before I figured out I was in a car, not my cart! Fortunately, traffic was light, so wasn't a true hindrance to anyone and no golf cart in front of me to scare to death.

Everyone makes mistakes big deal. As long as we don't make the same mistake twice. Defensive Driving is the name of the game. I believe your one of the first to admit an error, maybe you will start a trend and a change in the culture, a groundbreaking post indeed redwitch, I respect what you said immensely.

We were not mistaken, 4 of us playing golf saw it only yards from the 3rd hole on Turtle Mound where the multi path runs alongside the course. We were waiting to tee off and all gasped "that's a CAR". It was heading toward the sharp left bend before the tunnel under 466a
