Default carpet over laminated

The master BR in new house has a nice laminated floor, but I prefer soft cozy carpet. Is it ok to put carpet over laminated or does one have to remove? Thanks

It's probably not hard to remove. The "planks", although heavy, seem to come up easily for an able-bodied person.

why not try a couple of area rugs first? I would pose the question to a couple of the flooring businesses around the villages, they would probably know best.
