We will be coming to TV soon for a visit & want to play the Executive courses this time. We usually walk the courses here at home. Can we do that in TV? Can we rent a bag pull cart at the course or somewhere else while we visit? Thanks in advance for the information!

Exec courses rent pull carts - about a dollar. There are very few hills to speak of and you can enjoy the scenery more with a good walk. Have fun.

With the exception of Arnold Palmer, I also walk the Championship course.

Wow, I'm impressed. You're the first person I've seen that walks the championship courses. I used to do so back up in New York, but my playing partners here don't walk, so I haven't tried it yet.

I have played with more than one person who doesn't like for me to walk. They say that I am not being sociable. I not only keep up with play, but am most often at the next tee before the others are. I think in reality they may be jealous that I want to do it and they don't want to.

I always walk the executive courses so I have my own pull cart which I bought down here at a garage sale for $5, but yes they do have really nice pull carts at all the courses to rent for $1.

A couple of the Executive Courses aren't walker friendly - such as Churchill. No changes in elevation to speak of, but some do have quite a distance from green to the next tee on several holes. You won't wear out, but you will put your group at least a hole behind by the time you walk to the next tee and forever endear yourself to the group following you. Check w/ the starter or your playing partner(s) before you make your tee time.

Just a point of information... I believe that unless you are a resident, be prepared to pay to play golf on the execs.

Jan - I agree with walking as many/all courses that you can. A good golfer (I mean one who keeps pace and plays from the proper tees not how many shots they take!) can/should complete even the longest course in TV in less than 4.5 hours walking. This comes from the good golf guide produced by TV. http://www.golfthevillages.com/golf-...dgolfguide.pdf
However, being an avid golfer myself, I can tell you without hesitation that if there are no groups holding you back you can complete 18 holes using a cart much faster than walking (assuming that it is not 'cart path only'). From personal experience my foursome completes 18 in a cart in about 3.5 hours vs. 4.25 walking. Of course if someone is in front of you then walking or cart is about the same. I walk every chance I get but if i'm playing 27 or 36 (which I do often) then I'll ride. Last edited by Russ_Boston; 01-02-2009 at 09:12 AM. |

I believe you have to be a guest of a resident to play exec courses.
IMHO there isn't an exec course that can't be walked, yes, Churchill, Oakleigh and a couple others have a hole or 2 that have a long walk, but I have walked them all and never gotten behind, just my experience.

I have never been behind a group with walkers that keep up the pace. Sorry. There is nothing more "fun" than being behind a couple of walkers that take their time and drag the time out.

You've never been behind me z, I very often arrive at the tee and the green ahead of the cart(s) in my group.
