Default Law Day 2016.

President Eisenhower proclaims Law Day - May 01, 1958 - HISTORY.com

My 224 613 Project (Google Taltarzac725) has had good, bad and ugly interactions with the law and lawyers as well as others.

I am a very strong advocate for the State and US Constitutions and view respect for these as probably the most important component of a civil society where people treat each other with dignity and honor. Except on some TOTV threads especially when dog poop comes up as the main subject.

What are some of your experiences with the law? I would like to mention some of the clients I had when with Legal Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners (LAMP) for some humor. I had a WI-MN-IL member of a biker gang as a client. It would be unethical to give more details but the amusing part of the story was a photo album that one of his friends dropped off at the U of MN Law School LAMP Clinic. I thumbed through the pictures and found some that looked like they would add some time to my client's sentence if the prison officials saw these so I had to tell this biker gang member (who was in prison for a chase like something out of some biker gang movie/TV series such as The Sons of Anarchy) that his friend needed to come back to the LAMP office to pick up the photo album. The LAMP secretaries dealt with the friend so I do not recall what this person looked like. The biker gang member was at Minnesota Correctional Facilty--Stillwater where I would trek if this were the first meeting between student attorney and incarcerated client. Some of the LAMP clients had started as prisoners but were released so we still had parts of their legal matters attached to their files at LAMP. Some cases move really slow through the legal system.

The Missouri Partisan Ranger - Bob, Jim & Cole Younger

This is the Younger and James brothers from the Great Northfield MN Raid.

Cole Younger evidently created The Prison Mirror the newspaper of what was Stillwater prison back at that time. Not the same buildings as the prison I visited about once a month when I was Student at Legal Assistance to MN Prisoners. I did visit another prison-- Oak Park Heights which is the super max in MN-- while helping another Student Director with a case. Student Directors supervised other Law Students' work.

When I was little and went to Country School, May 1st was May Day and the teacher taught us how to do the dance around the May Pole so that the ropes were braided or something like that. I think that day is a forgotten day.
