Default Web charges for Camp Villages tickets - YIKES!

I bought Camp Villages tickets online today. First, let me say I think Camp Villages is wonderful. But I was shocked that over 25% of my total charge was "web fees." One example - I bought tickets for 2 adults ($20) and 2 children ($4) = $24 total. I was assessed an additional $11 for a Web Ticket fee (almost 50% of the price of the tickets). Another example.... a boat tour was $10 for 1 child and $2 for 1 adult. ($12). The web fee was $5.50. Plus, there's no consistency to the charge. One web fee was 20% of the total ticket price... another was over 45%.
What did I learn? I need to do a little research before tickets go on sale next year to find a more cost-effective way to buy tickets!!

There was a long line at the LSL box office. The first person got there at 4 am. I bought online too and agree that the web fees are high as they apply to each ticket, not transaction. However, given that I am told the line barely moved after people waited for hours, it seemed worth it. One suggestion to "management" would be to release the tickets by the week rather than the whole summer at once.

That doesn't seem right. What did the box office say?

This is our 4th year of buying tickets online. I get online as soon as they start selling tickets and I am done in a 1/2 hour for two kids over two weeks. It is well worth the fees to not have to get up at 3AM to get in line at 4AM and wait for hours. For some unimaginable reason the Rec Department does not make it clear in the paper or its marketing materials that most tickets are available online.

I stood inline for 3 1/2 hours. Next year I will pay the fee and order online.

And that is why they can get away with such high online surcharge fees.

To some of us, it is worth it.

I know it was for me.

Any ticket for most any event purchased online will have a fee. Call it a service fee, processing fee, handling fee or whatever you like. It's nothing new, just a price to pay for convenience.

No consistency? Sounds like $2.75 a ticket to me!

Why do they charge such high "online fees"? Because they can, of course. High demand, no competition. Besides the Morse family needs the money.

Hate to wreck your day.... "Camp Villages" is run by your REC. DEPT.

Don't feel bad, lots of folks don't know how things run around here. And it certainly is easier to hate the developer than find out. Nobody put a gun to anyone's head to buy online. IT'S A CONVENIENCE FEE. If your time is worth very little or you have too much of it.... go stand in line @ 4 a.m.

Just FYI... I paid a $2.50 web fee for one ticket.... $3.00 for another ticket. So it's wasn't $2.75 every time.
I don't have an issue paying a web service fee. I was just surprised by the amount.

"Shocked" was the word you used, not surprised.

Everything is relative .... $2.75 fee to by a $100.00 ticket to a show sounds good. Did you want to pay the same percentage on a $2 ticket (a fee of 5 and 1/2 cents?)

Think of it as a cheap lesson. I think there are only 2 ways to buy tickets for Camp Villages. Next year try the other way if you wish. Go and enjoy the time with the grand kids and I hope you get to do it many more years.

The only sure way to buy the tickets is to be in line very very early on the morning they go on sale! I've done that for 5 years, this was the first year I had to be out of town (for my granddaughter's dance recital) and had to rely on the web. Never again!! I will be in line next year with my coffee and my chair at 5:30!! Seriously, sad but true.
