Default White Pelicans Targets

This has happened before but today at the Lopez Driving Range at 8AM there were easily 20-30 White Pelicans grouped together in the water just short of the island targets. Approximately 160 yards out / center range. I did not see anyone specifically aiming at the Pelicans but the majority of us are not accurate enough to always avoid a group at least 25 yards wide, just sitting there. The golf staff at Lopez needs to close the range and send a staff member to the island to "encourage" these beautiful birds to re-locate to a safer area. I am sending this request to the Golf Division via the GolftheVillages villages.com website and ask them for a reply and a solution to this ongoing problem.

My husband and I were talking about this yesterday, what appears to be a heightened sensitivity to animals as we age.

Neither of us can bear to see the Nat Geo shows where one animal kills another. We didn't used to be so sensitive.

Must be a natural progression. It has it's up and down sides.

Maybe a mass order of little kevlar helmets and flak vests should be in the works.

White pelicans fish in groups. It's a pond. There must be fish in the pond, or the pelicans wouldn't be there. Perhaps what they need to do is relocate the fish to another pond. Also, I thought the white pelicans were migrating north. They seem to have stayed longer this year. Someone must have radioed down the weather problems they're having up there.

As I understand it. they have sent 2 range monitors out to that island but both were ate buy alligators while swimming to the pelicans to tell them to move! The remaining monitors are refusing to swim to the island so management is thinking about a different solution.
Stay tuned.

I like you, but you were in the principals office every once in awhile before becoming an outstanding citizen, financial success and excellent father.

I'm the same way. I think as we age, we become more compassionate.

If you get upset with watching Nat Geo when animals are in there natural habitat, just think how the golfers at the driving range felt about the two guys they sent out to warn the birds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gather them up and go put them in the pool, since the restaurant is closed anyway.
