... those very patriotic young Progressives who stalked the West Coast airports and hurled insults and committed assaults on our brave young men who were returning from Vietnam .
Their actions have left a lifetime of emotional scars on a countless number of those men who had only answered the call of their Democratic President LBJ to risk their lives in service to their country . Many of the people who targeted our returning military have since spent a lifetime in academia and in activist movements designed to erode the foundation of the USA . They should all pause and recall their actions and feel very proud of how they havecaused a lifetime of hurt to their fellow Americans . |

The vets should have stormed the white house when they got home...it was an unjust and unnecessary war...just like Iraq and Syria.

The "heroes" were the draft evaders who had the courage to go to Canada instead of fighting in a civil war which meant nothing to America. 58,000 killed for absolutely no good reason! Makes no difference who was President. The US had no reason to get involved in a civil war. |

Yes, the draft resisters of the Vietnam War had the moral courage to demonstrate against an unjust war and the courage to evade the draft by going to Europe or Canada.
They are the ones with strong courage and a belief in freedom - not the SHEEP who went to the slaughterhouse. Of course, we should honor the fallen troops on Memorial Day. Respect the ones who made a difference to end the Vietnam War by resisting. They have the true courage. |

Don't worry, there will always be the decent folks that will clean up after you. God Bless my fellow Veterans and those that gave their lives so that scumbags can disparage and belittle their faith in their country that they fought for. You, my friend have a debt to those veterans and to your country that you will never be able to pay off. |

I didn't think pausing to remember Memorial Day was going to lead to such tripe. Let's pause to remember with dignity.

I think you have it a bit skewed. Liberals are the sheep, the ones that scatter when there is a wolf around. The ones that cower in a group and don't defend themselves, EVER. So, welcome to the fold, little lambie.

Why don't some of those who served in Vietnam tell us the reasons that the USA needed to be in that war - and how the freedom of America depended on it?

Nope, it was the mindless sheep who followed their herd to a war that the USA had no reason to be involved with.

And that's what always makes me angry. They should not have not been deceived in the first place. "The deeper lesson of the Tonkin Gulf episode is how a group of senior national security officials can seek determinedly through hardball and even illicit tactics to advance a war agenda, even knowing that the President of the United States is resisting it." How LBJ Was Deceived on Gulf of Tonkin – Consortiumnews I don't feel sorry for LBJ. He didn't have the balls to do what he wanted to do. That doesn't sound like him, does it? I'm sorry it wasn't stopped much sooner. I'm sorry if you also lost loved ones. |
