Default Comcast phone service

I keep reading that Comcast is offering phone service in The Villages. What villages/areas is it available in? Supposedly it's available in Sumter county but when i call Comcast they say it not available yet.

Call them back again. Half of the customer care reps don't know what they're talking about. I called a couple of times to inquire and at first I was told that Comcast was not in my area (Bonnybrook), but when I called back (same day), I was told by another rep that it was available. Be sure to check your bill carefully when you get it. I requested the triple play for $33 each - phone, internet and cable. I was billed almost $300 the first month, over $250 the second and it took several calls to get it straightened out. Some reps were quite rude to boot. Good luck!

I have a question. It is about Comcast phone service so this is not a hijack.

I was told by someone that if you have Comcast and their phone service and the power goes out you lose the phone service. Is that true? I know that if the power goes out and you have a land line you still have phone service.

Default Comcast Telephone

You need to keep a spare phone that does not require electricity. Plug this phone into the modem if the power goes out.

But doesn't the modem require electricity to work?

I have Comcast phone service...and if the CABLE goes out, then phone service can go out, too. The cable was out because of some sort of accident that "hit" a major line. Not sure where this was, but we had no internet, no tv and no telephone. The repair came quickly enough, but it was a bit uncomfortable being without a land phone.
The internet can be down, and phone service still works, at least this has been our experience, but if something really knocks out service, you could be without phone.
As for electricity...the power is out, the modem is out.

We live in Sumter county, Village of Caroline and have had phone service since the summer, July I believe it was installed.

Pooh -

If you have all cordless phones and your electricity goes out, you will have no phone. For such emergencies, I keep an old-type dial up phone with a coil cord to connect to the phone outlet. It works.
