Default Does anyone see the irony in this....

On the same day....today....our Attorney General said that basically Americans were cowards because of reluctance to discuss race.

The New York Post published a cartoon that showed a monkey being shot by NY Police (I am sure that everyone had seen the story about the shooting of the monkey) and a caption that says "They will have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill".

The cartoon has sparked outrage from Al Sharpton, a state senator and the head of the black journalist association.

Does anyone else see the irony in this ?

Will check that out.....I see irony in being called for being a coward and not willing to discuss race when the extremist groups, who incindentally get all the press, will rail on anyone who dares even bring it up in any way.

This cartoon from the Post had absolutely nothing to do with race, or the President yet the stretch was made and they got press !!!

No problem...I just happened to read the two stories back to back yesterday and was struck by the irony. I am so afraid that we get to the point where everything and anything is called racist or whatever, thus shutting down discussion.

I do not believe Americans are cowards on this..but I do believe that we have developed a sensibility to being "political correct" and fear of being labled to the point where we just shut up and that is not right !!!!

Default First of all I am a little over dosed on the whole issue of race

the newbies are wearing it pretty thin in their new found exposure.

What they don't get is when they want to talk about it, it is called constructive...when a non black (usually caucasian) brings it up it is railed as racist.

They have a one way agenda and when one of them now gets in the camera lens or microphone, they feel compelled to give their views. If a white man made a similar disparaging remark about Americans being race cowards....it would be headline news....Sharpton and Jackson would be front and center.

The elitist blacks continue turning the race issue to what they erroneously see as their advantage. It is pure out and out reverse discrimination....always has been.

The subject had little to do with the agenda of his office....but clearly shows his non ability to be open minded as the position requires. Another soldier in the army of where ever they are trying to take our precious USA....and I do object to the word coward as a reference to Americans....he is prejudicially out of order.

This is lunacy.

The last time I checked, bills being submitted into the House are written by congressional staffers, and subsequently submitted by a member of the House as his/her work product. Now some hysterics want to turn a cartoon into a racial slur. How hypocritical!

I just checked this bill on the appropriate website (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquer...p/~bdHBYi:@@@P). The following facts stand:

1. The sponsor of the stimulus bill - the one who submitted it to the House for consideration - is Rep. David Obey (a caucasian).

2. There were 9 co-sponsors of the bill: 6 caucasians, 2 blacks, and one hispanic.

So, if one wants to say the monkey insinuates itself as the "official" author of the bill, that would be an insinuation that Rep. Obey is the brunt of the cartoon.

This is getting pretty silly....

I would never call Obey a monkey or even a chimpanzee. If one did so, we would be overwhelmed with protesting and picketing simians of all varieties demanding an apology.
