Why do some overlook the facts.

I read this kinda interesting.

In psychology, there is a construct called Cognitive Dissonance. Basically the idea goes that once people make up their minds about something, they become emotionally wedded to a person, idea or plan of action. Despite being confronted with evidence that contradicts a given thought or commitment, people tend to ignore the data at hand rather than modify or change their position.

I have run up against that constantly with my 224 613 Project but very deep self interest roots were usually also very much involved. Follow the money....

I use to believe in Cognitive Dissonance but not so much anymore.

I just vote for who shares about the same policy views given the choices available.

I am seldom all that thrilled with the choices though.

This year it is more about stopping Donald Trump from getting his hands on the wheel of the Ship of State as I believe he will hit an iceberg with it quite quickly.

Hillary Clinton's White House Task Force did help me in the 1990s with my 224 613 Project. So there is that too.

Maybe Taz can use his great intellect to defend her in court after the elections and she gets charged with all those felonies she has perpetrated. Maybe she will write him a letter of appreciation to put on his love me wall.

It's happening now in politics, religion, race equality...it's all around. We KNOW something is true, so we ignore or debunk ALL evidence to the contrary.

Politics - We all know the two parties are crooked, but we STILL defend "our side" against "them".

Religion - We all know that science is taking us farther and farther from needing a "God" to explain things, yet we hold onto 5,000 year old myths.

Race - Come on, look around, look how they act, how they live, black people are NOT like us, they're not our "equal". Yet we hold onto that myth too.

I'm very familiar with CD, it's all around. It takes work to be truly "open minded". It's hard to do.

Quite a high price to pay for insurance. Live according to someone else's rules because "maybe" they're right? Maybe those guys from 5,000 years ago knew something we don't know? It's too high a price for me.

If I'm wrong and "God" really IS omniscient, then he "knows our heart" and that we were just using that free will we got when we ate from the tree of knowledge. But if THAT is our greatest sin...knowledge...maybe he's not as smart as we think he is. What is he trying to hide from us?

You can believe anything you want, believe your religion, believe we're all equal, believe diversity is a good thing, just don't MAKE me live that way. Let ME choose.

Nobody is forcing you. Other than gay marriage, is there something else that the Bible does not allow that bothers you? Not that it matters, just conversation. I've never tried to force my faith on anyone. Personally, I haven't found anything forbidden in my faith that I wished to do.
Just wondering why you would disparage my faith if it hasn't harmed you.
