This has become a source of consternation to the media, as expressed by Washington Post colleague Margaret Sullivan earlier this week: "The candidate, famously opaque, answered a grand total of seven questions [in Iowa] on Dec. 4, 2015. Since then, although she’s given individual interviews, she hasn’t made herself available for general media questioning."

CNN's Jake Tapper asked Clinton about this at the end of May. She responded that she had "done nearly 300 interviews just in 2016" and that it was "important to continue to speak to the press as I'm doing right now."

In Sullivan's view, that's not enough. "She gets her message out in ways that are completely controlled," she wrote. "But American citizens deserve better."

there's a distinct difference between a scheduled interview and a full news conference.

She has done interviews, she can choose to do press conferences if she wants to. Now maybe you can address why trump will not release his tax returns. Do not use the lame excuse "they are under audit."

The depth of petty sniveling and whining, to which the right will go about the next President Of The United States...continues to amaze me.

Trump will never release his tax returns for two main reasons.

1. He's not nearly as wealthy as he wants others to think.

2. He has financial ties to Russians, mobsters and other despicable 'partners.'


The saddest part of course, is that most of his supporters hate Hillary so much that even if he was in cahoots with Putin...they would still vote for him.

The good thing about Trump not being transparent enough to turn over his taxes or acting presidential is that Clinton does not need to give a press conference. Who cares about past practice, thinking before speaking or the consequences of words. That's Trump's Achilles heel, appealing to the less informed who mistake something new with someone unprepared.

She doesn`t need to hold an open Press Conference due to the fact that 90% of the Media [ broadcast , cable , and print ] are all-in for
Hillary .

So that's the benefit of a rigged corrupt system I suppose

Concerning the question, why should she? There is nothing good that come from it, and only something she says may come up that the Republicans will harp on from now until forever.

All she has to do is sit back, and wait for Trump to say something stupid, which happens on a weekly basis. If you haven't noticed, Trump is his own worse enemy.

The debates will substitute for a press conference.

That's easy. At a press conference she may encounter spontaneous questions, ie: questions that have not been submitted in advance and pre-approved by her campaign. In that case, she only has 3 answers:
1) I'll look into that
2) I will continue Obama's policy
3) DOH!

For example:

Q: Have you always been a pathological liar?
A: I'll look into that

Q: What is your plan to defeat ISIS?
A: Everything is fine, I will continue Obama's policy

Q: Have you been vindictive against Bill's lovers?
A: DOH!

Of course if it was Trump who had avoided the Press for 260+ days you folks would be pounding the table with a shoe demanding that he hold an open presser daily .
