Default E-verify

I'm confused. Many politicians say they support E-verify for employers, but they do not want to deport all illegal immigrants. So, if E-verify is mandated and it is 100 percent effective, wouldn't we have 11 million people in the country who have no way to support themselves???

If the current laws are enforced, many illegals will have no choice but to self repatriate.

It's all about enforcing current laws.

Amen! And if the gov would prosecute any business owner that hires illegals, then that would also work as a deterrent.

In the 1980's corporation were required to completed I-9's for every hire. The short of this plan was that every hire had to produce documentation to support their legality here in the US. Many employers did not want to deal with this program for a variety of reasons including expense or desire to hire illegals. Penalties were threatened but like the war on drugs the government just has no will or follow through.

Build a wall and beef up border patrol. Determine a reasonable manner in which to deal with illegals here now. Criminals should be deported. People living here for an appreciable period who are productive and otherwise contributors to a community should have an opportunity toward citizenship etc etc etc

Personal Best Regards:

E-verify is voluntary, except for some federal contract work.

Does anyone here really think that the developer uses it?

Really?

And as soon as everything starts costing more, the same people who want to build a wall...will start screeching about the higher costs.

I am a proponent of enforcing our immigration laws and am fully willing to accept the higher costs that are inevitable, but until you start throwing the sumbiches that hire them in jail...it isn't going to change.

So what say you righties, are you for prosecuting the business owners that hire the illegals?

I believe the two main reasons that our immigration laws are not enforced are these.
1. The Republicans and the businesses they represent like the cheap labor illegals provide.
2. The Democrats do nothing to enforce immigration laws in order to garner the Hispanic vote.
So nothing gets solved that would truly benefit America
and its citizens.

Too bad you could not resist the name calling and partisan shot. Up until then it appeared there was actually going to be a sensible dialogue.

How unfortunate.

I would suggest your opening comments are true for both parties....or anybody that has a business that will gain as a result.

When all gets said and done the real issue is we have become a nation of selective law enforcement.

Fixing the immigration issue is as simple as grand fathering those deserving of becoming citizens.
Deport/export/jail/etc the gangsters/killers/rapists/etc.
To give all involved an opportunity to prepare for the implementation, provide a date that marks the day EVERY immigration law on the books goes into force.

No excuses.
No partisan whinning.
No politics.
No BS.

Enforce the law.

What is truly 'unfortunate,' is that I only called those who are breaking the law 'sumbiches' ...and asked if people like you are willing to put them in jail?

Even more unfortunate, is that instead of answering a simple question, you took the opportunity to try and take a personal shot at me...which is a perfect example of 'partisanship.'

Definitely living in your empty head...rent free (and yes... that's 'name-calling').

I do not support ILLEGAL ALIENS but if you research people who have not received OWED tax returns MOST ARE HISPANIC NAMES. I would guess they worked under a false name or social security number and so could not receive payment for overpaid taxes.

RE: services
I could write a book on this subject. Are we prepared to if say a person is hit by a car AND HAS NO INSURANCE OR PROOF THEY HAVE THE ABILITY TO PAY, to deny care and take them to the dump dead or alive? Sadly, WE ARE BUYING PEACE. Were we to deny ILLEGALS food and medical care, they would BE FORCED to turn to CRIME.

SOLUTION-THERE IS NO EASY ONE.

ASIDE-I recall reading a while ago that when we return illegals often we pay for CHARTERED AIR FARE-the reason is we refuse to just dump them at the boarder. We return them close to where they come from-often a small village with no regular airfare.

TRUMP-spoke about a wall with Mexico. The boarder with Mexico is the rio grand river unfortunately the river moves.
No mention was made about the larger boarder with canada.
