Question Age

Just a question. Does any one know if there is an age limit for being hired in the Villages, (e.g. Rec Centers or Golf). I notice there are few who look over the age of 70 and that leads to believe there is an age limit.

There are federal laws that prohibit age discrimination. Of course certain jobs have legal requirements, ie; you must be 21 years or older to work in a bar. I guess my point is that TV is not allowed to arbitrarily make up their own set of rules regarding hiring age.

Question Thanks

Thanks for the reponse. I know there are federal laws governing age discrimination and in fact as I recall age discrimination is the only one that has no statute of limitation.
I guess my question is not whether it is legal but rather if The Villages avoids hiring people who are 70 or older? There may be some in the rec centers or golf that are over 70 but were any hired after they were 70 and/or beyond? I only ask as when using these facilities it does not appear that many are 70 or older and it may be resonable be expect more given The Villages 55+ rules.

With the average age said to be 62, perhaps there are higher numbers of individuals younger than 70 applying for employment. I really cannot say from experience, but I believe it is "reasonable" to believe that there are a greater number of people 70 years of age and older who are simply retired.
