Default Local Kennel Recommendations???

Our Daughter and SIL have contingency plans to evacuate from the East Coast if the storm keeps heading their way.

They have 2 large dogs which they would like to kennel near us here. We are not pet owners, so I have no idea which kennels to call.

Suggestions appreciated! Thanks in advance!

We have a large dog (lab) and use Villages Pet Spa. It is located on Rolling Acres Road about 2/3 miles south of 466. They have a couple of outdoor play areas for the dogs. We are impressed by the cleanliness of the building and the friendly staff.

I second Bedtime Tails. Even my vet, Buffalo Ridge Animal Hospital, endorses them. Bedtime Tails takes the dogs out 5 times a day for potty breaks. My dogs always come home clean and happy whenever I board them there.

The approach to the facility is a bit off-putting, as the road to it off 301 is not paved. But the dog care there is superb, so don't let that deter you. Your Pampered Pets Home Away From Home! | Bedtime Tails Luxury Pet Hotel

We us ABCD Kennels.(all About Cats and Dogs). It is in the country, and they have indoor/outdoor runs. Inside has A/C and is heated in winter.

Dottie -
Make sure you call any boarding facilities that you are considering to see whether they will in fact board during an emergency. i remember reading the rules of one place that very plainly stated that in a local emergency, pet owners are expected to pick up their pets. They may be afraid that they won't have staff to care for them. Just a precaution.

We use Villages Pet Spa when we go on vacation. Have boarded our 2 dogs 4 times and there hasn't been a problem and they come home happy!

We have used both Villages Pet Spa and Bedtime Tails. Pet Spa is much closer and has easier drop off and pickup times. Both are clean and nice, but BT does let them out more and for longer. Agree with above post about checking ahead.

Another option is Pet Lodge and Spa in Leesburg. A little farther away, but a great place. Make sure they bring their pets' vaccination records with them, as every reputable place will require them. If push comes to shove, Dotti, could they stay with you? We have made do with our dog, our bird, and three cats (who were very interested in the bird) when our son and DIL moved back to MI from NY with their felines. It wasn't easy, but everyone survived.

We've been boarding our 2 dogs (1 little and 1 medium large) at Bedtime Tails off 301 in Summerfield since we've moved here. We boarded them quite a bit in CA due to travel. Absolutely love the owner Cathy and the staff. Never had a problem, the two start getting excited as soon as we turn off 301, run right in, never look back and when we pick them up they're extremely happy and tuckered out! Great place, great people, happy dogs!

Default Thanks all!

They talked to all the kennels suggested and ended up with Bedtime Tails. They liked the owner and the fact that the dogs will get to go our 5x a day.

Now we are waiting out the storm as they live in Indian Harbour Beach a tiny town between Sattelite Beach and CoCoa Beach in Brevard County.

They brought another family with them, they all like beachside, and are obviously very worried about their homes. We pray they have homes still standing when the rain and winds stops.

Scary stuff!
