Default Property Taxes

I am a new member here and have a general question for current residents. What are the approx. property taxes in TV? Do they vary by area or are they pretty consistent throughout? Where we live now they are 2.5%-2.75% of the market value of the home. So taxes on a $250,000 home would be $6,250-$6,875. It's at the whim of the Assessor.

Thanks for any info.

Bob

It varies by County.

If you go to Sumterpa.com it will give you the tax rate for Sumter County. The Villages is also located in Marion and Lake Counties I don't know a web page for those.

The "average" cost of living estimate sheet from TV lists property taxes at $240/month. Having said that, if you are buying a higher-end designer, CYV or Premiere, I would assume more. Vice versa if you are buying a smaller cottage or patio villa....

Thanks. Not sure what tv considers the avg. cost of a home, but it sounds like property taxes would be a little lower than where we live in IL.

I'd read where you can estimate property taxes at 2% of property value (less the homestead if it applies).

Default Thank you John...

Thanks for the info on the property taxes as I have been wondering as well. Living in NY has become impossible with property taxes . I'm not sure if I can ask you a question off the topic (I have just started posting), but I see you live in Hemingway that a nice person suggested to me today. Is it fairly close to grocery stores, hospital etc.?
