I am at the point where I need to replace my original carpeting in my bedrooms. What would be your choice if you were to purchase my home, carpeting and what kind...berber, plush or short pile? Or, would you prefer wood or tile? Thanks for your help.

We are going to replace the carpeting in the master bedroom, along with the front guest bedroom. We chose to use engineered hardwood instead of replacing it with carpet. We personally think its easier to keep clean. Some people like carpeting in the bedroom (possibly warmer on the feet). We will use a couple small rugs on either side of the bed.

We have rugs under the kitchen table and what not - but it is a constant battle to keep sand out of the house. At least we can take the rugs out and shake them (for a seemingly never ending supply of sand). |

Ultimately it will come down to your preference, you have to live there, and your budget. But just because you have carpet there now doesn’t mean it must be replaced with same. |

No carpet in Fl/ promotes mold & mildew--had the carpet removed from our "brand new house" before we moved in--did the same in our Palm Coast condo

I have tile in all the main living areas of my house and will want to replace the bedroom carpets in the next year or two. I have to say, I'm leaning toward the tile that looks like wood. The best of both worlds!

Thank you to everyone that had an opinion. I have that tile that looks like wood in my laundry and love it.

I have laminate and hate it. I vac and mop everyday and it still shows every bit of dust and paw prints from both dogs and humans. I would replace with tile or hardwood.

I think that depends on the type of Laminate- I have Laminate throughout and LOVE IT. Does not show any dust. I would avoid hardwood in any area that there will be water - it never lasts in Kitchens and baths - you will be refinishing every few years.

Because we have a big black lab, we replaced all ww carpet (dirty white) with tile before we moved in, and we love it. We have small rugs on either side of the beds and inside all doors to the outside.
