There has been some recent discussion about our president-elect and a supposed constitutional issue if he remains on the lease of his new hotel in D.C. Is the elected POTUS an employee of the government? My understanding is that he is not, but I can't find a supporting source.

Certainly we have someone on this forum who can answer this question. What say you? Do you have a source to site?

Of course he is a federal employee.

Yes the POTUS is paid from the US treasury as are Congressmen..but I think the fact that they are "elected" offficals (ie POTUS and Congressmen) they are not technically (or legally) federal employees.
