Default Best place to buy prescription meds

My husband has Part D prescription coverage, but goes into the "doughnut hole". I am looking for a place to buy meds other than Walgreens, to try and keep our expenses down.

I checked Drugstore.com and the prices seemed to be lower, but wonder if anyone buys meds elsewhere by mail.

Thanks!

Pat

For a local pharmacy, I use Rx Care in the plaza where Lowe's is. They say they'll beat any price. It's a very small pharmacy, so they sometimes have to order stuff, but it's usually here the next day. They also have free delivery, so if they don't have your meds when you're there, they'll bring them to you. Most of the time, I get my Rx filled in minutes while I wait (not 30+ or "come back later" like at the big chains).

I'd check Costco first.
A vacation, or cruise ship stopover, in Mexico would be nice.
Online comparison of drug prices, from all sources and countries.

I get mine at Walmart and the ones on their generic list are only $4 for 30 days or $10 for 90 days. These you do not run through your insurance...just pay cash for them yourself. That way, they don't go against you Part D limits. If I use my insurance for the ones on the list, then I have to pay a $7 co-pay. If your husband is a veteran, check into getting him into the VA system. My husbands prescriptions are $8 a month regardless of whether they are generic or name-brand or specialty. I could get his generics ones on Walmart's list, but I choose not to since the $8 charge thru the VA helps to keep all the scripts at a low price. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will shop around and check out several places.

Dilly, my husband is a WWII veteran, but due to a change in the law a few years ago, he can not get into the system. It is now means tested, unless he was in the system prior to the new law. Since he was lucky enough to have good health for most of his life, by the time he applied, it was too late.

Have you considered contacting your Congress-Critter for assistance, asking why a WWII vet can't get help? Can't hurt....might help, his service should be appreciated.
