My wife and I were on an American Airlines plane headed from Chicago to Honolulu about 20 years ago, in the second row of first class (free upgrade) and the door was just about to close, when I heard a familiar loud laugh from the jetway. Sure enough, around the corner came Ed McMahon and his wife. They sat in the first row of first class, right in front of us. Ed made the rounds and talked to everyone up front, and he was just as nice and friendly as he came across on the Tonight Show. Nice guy, and it was a memorable occasion for me.
