Default Oktoberfest

My wife and I are coming down for a long weekend in October... have to see some furniture we ordered for our house... also set up internet, phone & cable, etc. I was wondering if anyone knows when the Oktoberfest is being held? I find no mention of dates.

Thanks, Howard

I checked the German American Club schedule and they list it as October 30.

Is Octoberfest a Villages-sponsored event similar to Mardi Gras and St. Patrick's Day?

October is TV is one of our busier months - parade-wide.

For October, 2009, we have the Italian Festival and Parade at both squares on Thursday, October 8. The Festival gets underway around 4 PM and the parade starts at 4:45 PM while the bands (yes - there are multiple bands at both squares) play from right after the parade ends (something shortly after 5 PM depending on the size of the parade) until 9 PM.

On October 30th we do it all over again with Octoberfest. Same schedules - different bands and music and parade - both squares.

Mardi Gras Festival (no parade) is Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at both squares.

St. Patrick;s Day Parade and Festival is Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at both squares.

Bryan : I forgot all about the Italian Festival. I'm Italian on that day and German on the Oktoberfest. Thank you for the reminder.

Thumbs up Oktoberfest

If you find out anything about the Oktoberfest here in The Villages, please let me know. I have company coming and they would like to be here when the event takes place.

I just moved here 2 weeks ago, and no one seems to know anything about the Oktoberfest.

Jutta, first of all welcome to TOTV and also congratulations on your new home. Below is a link to the villages newsletter that comes out on a monthly basis. It keeps you up to date as to what is happening. They don't have anything listed for October yet, but a few things in September. Guess we'll all have to wait until the October newletter comes out.

FYI - the "rules" are changing. Oktoberfest is October 27, 2011 at both squares. HOWEVER!!!!! - there is only one parade and that parade will be at the Spanish Springs Town Square! For whatever reasons (mostly economic, I suspect) the Entertainment Department is changing so that parades alternate squares some of the time. Some events just flat disappear.

Here is the schedule:

Italianfest, 10/07/11 - LSL - PARADE; SS - NO Parade
Oktoberfest, 10/27/11 - LSL - NO Parade, SS - PARADE
Tree Lighting Ceremony - 12/01/11 - Both Squares but No Parade
International Expo - SS Only 1130 AM until 4 PM
Madri Gras - 02/16/12 - Both Squares but NO PARADE at either
St Pats Day - 3/16/12 - PARADES AT BOTH SQUARES
No Cinco de Mayo Celebration
No 4th of July Celebration
2012 Intalianfest, Oktoberfest and Tree Lighting - I don't know yet, sorry!

Bryan,

Thank you for posting this schedule. I will arrive in TV just in time to attend Italianfest. Do you know what time the parade will start at LSL on Oct. 7? :

In the past, parades have always started at 4:45 PM. The schedules I saw said they would start at 4:00 PM so I don't know if this is a change for real or not - no experience to date on 4 PM parades.
