Default No Card Skimmers @ Sams

Got gas this morning-spoke to the attendant, he told me his key only opens the printer-in order to refill the paper

And, the big and--if anyone opens any of the pumps all 12 pumps will shut off and they must be reset with an access code that a technician has

Time for other stations to use this system

Shell stations on 466 and the one on 301 at 44 all have sign that says they are credit card protected.

It seems to me that if you use a Shell Credit Card at a Shell Station there will be no problem. They are after the big money from our ATM and Visa, Mastercards & American Express cards. This is a horrendous thing that is happening to people in our community. Once it is pointed out that ANY business allows one of us to be preyed upon they are going in the penalty box for a while, maybe forever. It's time for these companies to respect us all and for us to respect them when they deserve our business.

Here is a great article on how skimmers work and how to identity them.

How to Avoid Credit Card Skimmers

Particularly interesting (at least for me) is a link in the article...that show photos of the types of skimmers being used these days.

All About Skimmers — Krebs on Security

I always thought I could identify a skimmer, but after looking at the photos (in the second link above)...I'm now going to be really paranoid.

These signs appeared on new pumps that were installed.

My card was skimmed in November at Sams.

Oddly, I had forgotten my membership card and the attendant used his card to activate pump.

That was the only place I used that card in Florida, and an hour later the card issuer was calling my asking if all the recent charges in Lady Lake were mine.

I only had to pay for the fuel, the rest of the charges were removed. They sent me new card next day.
