Default Saws and tools allowed? Skylights?

My husband has a question about whether it's allowed to do some home carpentry (e.g. putting up shelves in the garage, doing some minor changes) We bought a Hallandale Villa and he'd like to build some shelves for the garage. Another question is are skylights allowed? He wants to put a skylight in the kitchen (he used to install skylights) as well and is that allowed? Mainly he's wondering if he can do some hobby work or "working around the casa" as he puts it.

Default It is your house ...on the inside, On the outside not so much.

Yes he can as long as it doesn't visibly alter the outside, than you need to "Mother May I" to the deed restrictions folks.

However, He may be having a second career if people know he does skylights. I don't know of anyone who is doing them in TV. A lot of Solar tubes but no skylights.

I have seen some skylights in TV... granted, not many. Like you said, mostly solar tubes, they are so much more efficient but nothing stopping the installation of skylights if that's what they really want!

But there are some residents that have complete workshops in their garages or additions complete with saws, lathes, drill presses, etc. All perfectly legal.

Or if you don't already own such equipment or if you sold it before you moved to TV, you can join TV's Woodworker's Club. Here is their website: http://www.vwc704.com/

Default saws and skylights.

I absolutely love this forum. You are all so helpful so positive. It's hard to believe that this is really the truth, that eveyone is so helpful and without malice aforethought and all that. We really feel blessed to be coming there in October. With saws. (And beer making equipment! -- he's been a home brewer for a long time). Thank you all so much!

The greatest thing about the villages is its people. It is a self perpetuating ideal. Everyone is happy and helpful , which makes you in turn happy and helpful.

If you are a home brewer, there are both wine and beer clubs down here that you may be interested in joining. You might be able to find a contact on the following link:
