Default A Couple of newbie questions

1. I Just Closed on a Courtyard Villa and will be a snowbird, at least for now. I need to get TV and computer service and I understand that comcast offers a service that will allow you shut the service off when you are not there and pay a minimal fee during the down time. Is anyone familar with this service? Do any competing services offer anything that is comparable? Is FIOS availiable in TV? What's the best way to go?

2. I need to get a lamp post sign made. What is the most reasonable and fastest way to get one made. I will be in TV for 10 days in September. Can I get one made during that time?

Thanks for your advice,
Bill from MA & TV

First of all Congrats on buying!!

Before I was full time I had Comcast basic, and Comcast for internet. With basic you get around 15-20 channels. It was $11.95/month. Then I added internet. It was high speed for $24.95/month for one year. At the end of the year, price was going to shoot up, so I had internet placed one step down. Can't tell the difference. It is $42.68/month for both. Have Dish also but it is cheaper to keep the Comcast TV then just have internet. I did have it turned off and on but don't remember how much it was.

Have never heard of FIOS.

Becky

I have comcast and love it, triple play is under $100 for all three services, the main reason we went with their phone service is so we can use it for 800 numbers which can tend to suck up cell minutes, also we have a local number for fellow TV'ers to call us on....GN

I use Comcast for cable and Embarq for telephone and internet. Both offer "vacation" service suspension. The rates are about half of the regular rate, but there is a resume fee of about $10 when you want to restore the service. All equipment stays in place. I believe they limit the vacation rate to six months.
