Looking at the map of Colorado El Paso county stands out which is home to Colorado Springs. Colorado Springs is predominantly white, republican and has a large military population.

No..it's NOT...Ft Carson is in that county and the demographics for that is:

"The racial makeup of the CDP was 62.8% White, 20.0% African American, 2.1% Asian, 1.7% Native American, 0.8% Pacific Islander, 7.9% from other races, and 3.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 15.4% of the population."

I'll BET you the reason that county is slightly red is the elevated black population around the post. It's the second most "diversified" country in Colorado.

Colorado is on average 81.3% White...but these numbers are all pretty old...2010...things have gotten worse.
