This past week I got a tax bill for cars, boat and trailers from Marion Co. But I live in Sumter Co. Where I have paid taxes for these items.
Anybody ever have this happen. I wonder why they, Marion Co., sen a Sumter Co resident a tax bill? |

Did you pay last year at a tax office in Marion County? In order to earn revenue and reduce the cost for Marion County tax payers the tax office collects other (not real state) state charges and gets a commission. I assume this is the case. If so no problem, just pay the bill.

I bought a car in Marion County a few years back. I got a bill the following year from Marion County for my tag as the dealer registered it in Marion County. I went to Sumter county tag office and paid it. That worked Sumter office said no problem.

You need to go to Sumter office to pay the bill....otherwise the monies collected will not be put to use in your (Sumter) county! Happened to me this year (after buying a new car in Ocala.)

Happens to us all the time - we get a bill from Sumter county for auto registration but we live in Marion county. We just go to the Marion county Tax Collector's office and they take care of it. No hassle, never any issue down the road.
