Most intelligent people, even those who think it wise to pull out of the Paris agreement BELIEVE that climate change is happening.

It is what to do about it that is the problem. Standing stalwart together and singing songs and changing out your grass isn't getting anything done.

I say. Let's us Americans build turbines and figure out a way that solar energy is truly cost effective and try not to fart as much.

What intelligent people don't believe is that CO2 is responsible and must be severely limited. CO2 is nothing compared to the biggest greenhouse gas...water vapor...which is responsible for 90+% of heat retention.

The earth is warming naturally...it has been off an on since the last ice age ended. Are we helping? No. But we're not causing it either.

Besides...we have bigger problems here in America...the minority majority that is beginning to have an effect on our country. The country is 50:50 now...50% white...50% them.

Sorry, but your conclusions are misinformed....water vapor IS a greenhouse element, but the WARMING of the Earth, that increases the water vapor in the atmosphere is caused by the increase of CO2, methane, and other gases, so that the warmth increases the evaporation of water and warm air will hold more water vapor than cold air......result is more violent storms in some areas, draught in other areas, the melting of glaciers and ice sheets in the Arctic, and Antarctica, and the acidification of the oceans causing coral death and ultimately fish populations to decrease to levels that are unsustainable for fishing, and eating.......to lower the level of this discussion to race is not only absurd, but shows the deep ignorance of the poster to the reality of the Earth's dilemma and the total racism of his/her intelligence. A certain person in the mid-thirties in Germany would probably be happy with your diatribe

The discussion about climate change is going to carry people to the same conclusion as gun control. Its a dichotomy you are either believe it or you do not believe it

Climate IS changing it IS warming...but cutting CO2 emissions isn't going to stop it. CO2 is 0.04% of the atmosphere...CO2 is responsible for 3-4% of the greenhouse gas effects.

That may be true, but there is not enough specific information here to make an informed judgment on what, if anything, should be or can be done about it.

Is this going to be a mild, temporary warming or is it going to be catastrophic? Is it something that we can actually do something about? I've read some things that say even if we follow the Paris agreement to the letter, it will do very little to change the future.

If we can delay or stop the warming, what will it cost? What would we be willing to give up?

On the other hand, there are 31,000 scientists that say that it's not happening.

While polls of scientists actively working in the filed of climate science indicate strong general agreement that Earth is warming and human activity is a significant factor, 31,000 scientists say there is "no convincing evidence" that humans can or will cause "catastrophic" heating of the atmosphere.

Do '31,000 scientists say global warming is not real'? Maybe. But more importantly what is the significance of these signatures? The majority of signatures are engineers (10,102). 3,046 are in medicine. 2,965 are in biology, biochemistry and agriculture. 4,822 in chemistry and chemical engineering.

To participate in the petition one only needs to mark a check box to show that one has a Ph.D., M.S., or B.S. degree, and then fill in the fields.

Unfortunately, that means that anyone can sign the petition, whether they have a degree or not.

Only 12% of those who signed...

According to the data on the petition site, only 12% of those who signed the petition are indicated to have affiliation with atmosphere, earth, and environmental science. But there is no indication how many work in the field of climate science?
