President Donald Trump had a constitutional right to tell FBI Director James Comey not to prosecute former national security adviser Michael Flynn, constitutional expert Alan Dershowitz said Saturday.
In remarks on "CNN Newsroom With Ana Cabrera," the Harvard law professor said there are two remedies for those who are outraged over Trump's firing of Comey after the president reportedly pressed Comey to drop his investigation of Flynn – "amend the Constitution, [or] don't vote for him." Dershowitz: Trump Had Right to Call Comey Off Flynn's Trail |

Anyway, everyone should also carefully consider the arguments made by constitutional scholar Alan Dershowitz. Dershowitz presented some compelling legal insight. “The president,” he writes, “is the head of the unified executive branch of government, and the Justice Department and the FBI work under him and he may order them to do what he wishes.”
Former FBI director James B. Comey likewise confirmed during yesterday’s testimony that, “as a legal matter, [the] president is the head of the executive branch and could direct, in theory, we have important norms against this, but direct that anybody be investigated or anybody not be investigated. I think he has the legal authority because all of us ultimately report in the executive branch up to the president.” |

I am sickened by most of what he says and does. HE was well within his rights to call the FBI director a NUT JOB in the presence of the head of Russian spy organization and only to the Russian press who made sure that got out there loud and clear. Did he break the law....no, but I assume from your post that you defend that action which was all over the world with an hour promulgated by the Russian media. By the way, the two men meeting ALONE EXCEPT FOR RUSSIAN MEDIA had been banished from the White House and then he welcomed them with open arms You must be so proud |

For that to matter enough to start a thread tells me you totally and completely miss the big picture of what this man is doing to our country and doing it on a world wide stage. This is making American rotten, not trusted, a lying nation who cannot be trusted under any or all circumstances, and while almost all countries recognize what is going on in Russia and around the world, our President could not even yesterday, when served a lollipop question, say anything bad about them, not has he ever. PS....Sorry, I do, in fact recall, this being discussed on one of the talk shows on a cable news network, but seemed to me to be the fill in kind of thing. Sorry.....I was wrong when I said I never heard that discussed |

Here is another opinion from another Harvard professor, Lawrence Tribe.
Laurence Tribe on MSNBC talking about DT & whether he could be indicted. - Democratic Underground Tribe also said the same thing in MSNBC. FBI agents are impartial. When Mueller calls Trump to testify, he is going to take Trump to school. If it becomes a question of who do you believe Trump or Comey, that is a no brainer, Comey. |
